BA.4 variant of Omicron found in a person from Africa in Hyderabad, India’s first case

The BA.4 version of Omicron was first detected in South Africa in January this year. After that, it gradually spread to other countries. BA.4, which has engulfed more than a dozen countries, was not in India. Now after getting this case, it is feared that this variant will spread in India.

Hyderabad: A new version of Kovid has been discovered in India. It is a subvariant BA.4 of Omicron found in Hyderabad. It has been found in an African man. According to experts, this is India’s first BA.4 variant. Officials have confirmed this while the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) awaits to issue a statement.

Sources said that this BA.4 variant has been found in an African national. He had reached Hyderabad airport. His sample was taken at the international airport itself. The patient had no symptoms. He had landed at the airport on May 9, the same day his sample was taken. He returned on 16 May. During this time he kept roaming in the city.

The first case found in South Africa

4,31,29,563 Kovid infected
After 2,364 new cases of Kovid-19 were reported in India on Thursday, the number of people infected with the coronavirus in the country has so far increased to 4,31,29,563. At the same time, the number of patients treated has come down to 15,419. After the death of 10 more people due to infection in India, the death toll has increased to 5,24,303. At the same time, the number of Kovid-19 patients in the country has dropped to 15,419, accounting for 0.04 percent of all cases.

The number of corona virus-infected in the country had crossed 20 lakh on 7 August 2020, 30 lakh on 23 August 2020, and 40 lakh on 5 September 2020. On 16 September 2020, the total cases of infection crossed 50 lakhs, and on 28 September crossed 60 lakhs. On October 11, 2020, 70 lakh will be paid, 80 lakh on October 29, 2020, and 90 lakh on November 20, 2020.

On December 19, 2020, the number of such cases in the country surpassed one crore. On May 4, last year, the number of infected people surpassed 20 million, and on June 23, 2021, it surpassed 30 million. On January 26 of this year, the number of cases had surpassed four crores.
