In such a situation, amidst increasing cases of monkeypox, the World Health Organization (WHO) has called an emergency meeting.

A Health emergency may be declared

In view of the increasing cases of monkeypox, WHO has called an emergency meeting on 23 June. In this meeting, the World Health Organization will decide whether to declare the rapidly spreading monkeypox all over the world as a health emergency. The WHO has said it will soon confirm whether monkeypox is a ‘public health emergency of international concern’.

What did the World Health Organization say?

World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the monkeypox outbreak is unusual and worrying. As a result, I’ve decided to assemble an emergency committee next week in accordance with international health regulations to determine if this outbreak is a public health emergency of international concern.”

Cases of monkeypox are spreading rapidly

Let us tell you that the cases of monkeypox are spreading very fast all over the world. There have been 104 cases of monkeypox in the UK. Apart from this, the infection of monkeypox is spreading very fast in the countries of Africa as well.

According to Britain’s Health Protection Agency, there are 470 cases of monkeypox across the country, most of them in gay or ‘bisexual’ men. Scientists have warned that anyone who comes in physical contact with a person infected with monkeypox can become vulnerable to the infection. After Britain, the highest number of cases have been reported in Spain, Germany, and Canada.
