If we look at many other types of studies, from 1935 to 1996, the Gangotri glacier melted by about 20 meters every year. But now it has increased to 38 meters per year.

Dr. Rakesh said that in the last decade Gangotri has melted 300 meters. If we look at this rate of melting of Gangotri, it melted 1700 meters in 87 years. That is, 19.54 meters in a year.
