On Wednesday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi, headed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, unveiled the Delhi Budget 2023–2024, which includes a number of significant development initiatives planned for the following fiscal year.
The introduction of three double-decker motorways
which sought to save time and money for commuters and taxpayers, was one of the major infrastructure projects in the capital. According to the suggested design, automobiles will operate on the lower deck while the Metro rail would operate on the upper deck, saving the taxpayers an estimated Rs 121 crore.
The three double-decker flyovers in Delhi are intended to relieve traffic congestion
and connect a number of neighborhoods in the city’s south and north. These flyovers will be used to connect the crossroads at Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar, Azadpur and Rani Jhansi, and Saket and Pul Prahaladpur. To boost connectivity, the flyovers will also be connected to a number of Delhi Metro stations. An estimated 320 crore rupees would be spent on the total project. By the beginning of 2024, the three double-decker flyovers in Delhi should be finished. They will be built in cooperation with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The Delhi Budget was presented during
the Assembly session by the new finance minister Kailash Gehlot who referred to Manish Sisodia as his “older brother.” In his budget speech, he quoted Colombian economist Gustavo Petro, who said that a prosperous nation is one where the wealthy use public transportation rather than owning cars. In the capital city, 26 flyovers, bridges, and underpasses are expected to be built, according to the budget.
Also, the Delhi budget pledged to provide
Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) with all the assistance and resources necessary to eliminate three rubbish mountains within two years. According to the schedule, the evacuation of the Okhla landfill is planned for December 2023, that of Bhalswa for March 2024, and that of Ghazipur for December 2024.
The three double-decker flyovers are anticipated
to shorten commute times, reduce traffic, and improve connectivity in Delhi. The project will assist the government in protecting taxpayer funds. The Delhi Budget 2023–2024 included a number of additional development proposals that might raise the capital’s residents’ level of living.
