Similar to how it did with the second generation Thar, Mahindra might introduce its 5-door Thar off-roader SUV on the next Fourth of July. The firm is planning an event for August 15–16, 2023, in South Africa, which has sparked rumors that the company would unveil the 5-door Thar there. The 5-door Mahindra Thar is anticipated to begin selling in the second part of this year. The existing Thar will be replaced by a more useful long-wheelbase (LWB) model that will compete with the 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny. The introduction of Jimny is anticipated for the first week of June 2023.
The 5-door Thar will have a longer wheelbase than the 3-door version (by about 300 mm), which will result in a roomier cabin.
The split back seats may be seen in the spy photos. It will largely share features with the 3-door Thar. A new touchscreen infotainment system with AdrenoX software, a sunglasses holder, and a center armrest is available from the automaker Mahindra, though.
The 5-door Mahindra Thar will have a similar appearance and styling as the three-door model.
It will keep its distinguishing boxy aspect with rounded headlamps, wide wheel arches, and a spare located on the tailboard. Its body panels will be modified, nevertheless. New alloy wheels can also be provided.
The 2.2L diesel and 2.0L turbo petrol engines from the new Thar 3-door SUV may be used in the 5-door model.
There are options for manual and automated gearboxes. Additionally, 4X2 and 4X2 drivetrain options will be available. However, the 2.2L diesel engine is the only one that supports the 4X2 system.
