Zombie Virus: One of the terrible effects of climate change brought on by several reasons, including global warming, is the melting of the earth’s ice caps.
Material that had been frozen for millions of years is now being released due to the melting of glaciers and other ice-covered locations.
One such occurrence is taking place in the permafrost of Siberia.
Where scientists have just brought back a number of “zombie viruses.
Many of which pose a serious threat to the human race.
The reanimating viruses are a potential threat to public health.
According to a journal article written by microbiologist Jean-Marie Alempic of the French National Centre for Scientific Research and his team.
More research is needed to determine the full extent of the threat.
Alempic and his team of researchers classified 13 novel viruses.
They had obtained from 7 various prehistoric Siberian permafrost samples.
One of these 13 viruses, the 48,500-year-old amoeba virus, was found in the permafrost zone beneath a lake.
These “zombie viruses” have the potential to be contagious pathogens using live single-cell amoeba cultures.
The roughly 50,000-year-old zombie virus still has the ability to infect other creatures.
The situation would be even more devastating in the case of a plant, animal, or human disease.
Which would be caused by the resurgence of an ancient undiscovered virus,”
According to researchers who published their findings in the journal “Science Alert.”
