The bank accounts into which tax refunds are being paid were included in the announcement regarding tax refunds that the Income Tax Department released on Tuesday evening. Those accounts are legitimate and authentic. Through its official Twitter account @IncomeTaxIndia, the Income Tax Department has made an announcement in this regard. The department was requested to verify the legitimacy of the bank accounts into which the tax refund is to be placed.

Authenticating a bank account
To verify or update their bank account information, taxpayers can take the following actions:
- To start, go to http://incometax.gov.in, the Income Tax Department’s official website.
- Log into your e-filing profile after that.
- Select “My Bank Account” from the profile area by going there now.
- Update or add bank account information as necessary.
