Bumper budget for railways revealed; be aware of active mega rail projects

The Union Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman has presented the final budget for the 2nd term period under the Modi government. There are a lot of announcements in the budget that pertain to all sectors. This includes railways. A total of 2.4 lakh crore was allotted to Railways from the Central Government. We will tell you about these massive railway projects. They are in operation continuously and, in the coming days and even years, millions of people will benefit from these projects.

Chenab River Railway Bridge

The world’s highest single-arch railway bridge is currently being constructed over the Chenab River. The Chenab River Railway Bridge is a part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project. The 1.3 kilometers long project with an estimated cost of $92 million will link the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India via a rail system. It is the Chenab River Railway Bridge is a joint venture between Afcons Infrastructure (India), VSL India, and Ultra Construction & Engineering Company of South Korea. Another step in the direction of getting to Kashmir by railway.

Operating of the Rapid Train

 The rapid train will be operating from Delhi to Meerut by 2025. The entire rail corridor is to be constructed in three parts. The first section is 17 kilometers long, stretching from Sahibabad and Duhai Depot. Rapid Rail on this section will be in operation for the first time in March 2023. Track construction for this segment is completed. The construction of the overhead lines is currently in progress. In March 2023, the line will begin operating with passengers in the direction of Duhai Depot and Sahibabad.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project

Construction has started along a unidirectional route through eight districts in Gujarat along with Dadra as well as Nagar Haveli. After being in limbo for several years the project to build a bullet train is now moving forward with the most notable being Maharashtra. According to the officials that the project will be completed by 2027.

Bairbi-Sairang New Line Railway Project

 Construction is currently underway on Bairbi-Sairang New Line Railway Project to connect the region of Mizoram and the entire nation. Once the construction is complete, the work, a brand new period begins in terms of trade and communication in the region of North-East the country, specifically in Mizoram. The Bairabi-Sairang initiative aims to construct an additional 51.38 kilometers of railway track within Northeast India.

Bhalukpong-Tawang Line 

The Bhalukpong-Tawang line is among the major projects of the Northeast which will serve the huge demands of the military in the region, where the tensions between China have risen to new levels. The line proposed will include multiple tunnels and be built at an altitude of more than 10,000 feet.
