Competition Commission of India Penalties: The Competition Commission of India fined 3 big companies in the country on Wednesday. The Competition Commission of India has imposed a total fine of Rs 392.36 crore on online travel service provider MakeMyTrip, Goibibo, and hotel service provider OYO for unfair trade practices.

CCI in its 131-page order has said that MakeMyTrip, Goibibo
223.48 crore and OYO has been fined Rs 168.88 crore. An overall fine of Rs. 392.36 crores has been issued as a result.

Let us tell you that MakeMyTrip has been accused of implementing price parity in the agreements with hotel partners. Under such agreements, Hotel Partners are not allowed to offer their rooms on any other platform or on their online portal at a price lower than what is offered on both these entities’ platforms. Huh.

Due to this fine imposed The
CCI asked MakeMyTrip to revise its agreements with hotel operators along with imposing fines. Another allegation said that MakeMyTrip gave a lot of preference to OYO on its platform, which was hampering the market access of other companies. In October 2019, the Indian Competition Commission issued an order for a thorough investigation into the situation. MakeMyTrip purchased Ibibo Group Holding in 2017, and it now trades as Goibibo Bonds.
