Cut in CNG-PNG Prices: The effect of the government’s initiative to reduce the price of CNG and PNG has started showing in less than a week. The rates of CNG and PNG have come down drastically in Mumbai. Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), which supplies gas to Mumbai, has cut the prices of LPG, PNG, and CNG.
The company has taken this step to provide relief to the customers after the government increased the supply of natural gas by reducing supply of natural gas by Rs 6 per kg. According to the official statement given by the company, the price of PNG has been reduced by Rs 4 per cubic meter to Rs 48.50. At the same time, the rate of CNG has come down by Rs 6 per kg to Rs 80.
CNG is cheaper by Rs 4 in Pune
MGL said that post the change in price, vehicle owners in Mumbai will be able to save 48 percent in the cost of CNG as compared to other fuels. Apart from Mumbai, the price of CNG has also been cut in Pune. CNG has become cheaper by Rs 4 in Pune. After this, one kg of CNG will be available in Pune for Rs 87.

Earlier, the government had allocated some amount of natural gas from industries to urban gas distribution companies to reduce the cost of CNG and PNG. The allocation for Delhi’s Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and Mumbai’s Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has been increased from 1.75 crore cubic meters per day to 2.078 million cubic meters, officials said.
