Everybody looks forward to Diwali 2024, the most significant Hindu holiday, all year long. However, the same question is on everyone’s mind this time: when is Diwali? After all, let’s find out why there is a misunderstanding over Diwali’s date and celebration time.
Amavasya is the date on which Diwali is celebrated.
The Panchang states that Diwali is observed annually on Kartik Amavasya (Kartik Amavasya 2024). However, Pradosh and midnight must be the primary times of Amavasya Tithi because Pradosh Kaal is required for Diwali, while Udayatithi observes other festivals. Laxmi Puja is also conducted during Pradosh Kaal on this day. Kartik month’s Amavasya date will begin at 2:52 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024, and terminate at 6:16 p.m. on Friday, November 1. The fact that Amavasya falls on each of these days has caused this misconception. In Pradosh Kaal, however, Diwali puja is seen as auspicious.
On November 1st,
Amavasya Tithi will conclude before Pradosh Kaal starts. As a result, the experts unanimously agreed that it would be auspicious and in accordance with the scriptures to celebrate Diwali on October 31. This day will also see the performance of Lakshmi Puja.
On November 1st, these tasks will be completed.
Pradosh Kaal and midnight are the times when the Diwali festival is celebrated. However, Udayatithi applies to fasting, tarpan, bathing, and donations, among other things. Under such circumstances, Friday, November 1, 2024, will be appropriate for tarpan for ancestors, donation, and bathing in the holy river, among other things. On this day, Mahaveer Swami Nirvana Diwas will also be observed. For those who observe the Jain tradition, this is a particularly sacred day.
