Delhi is suffering from a cold wave! schools to be closed for an extra week

North India has been hit by a cold wave. Not only is this halting employment, but it’s also causing issues for young students attending school. Delhi is currently experiencing extreme cold and thick fog. The quality of life for Delhi’s citizens is declining. The impact of weather on children’s health is evident.

Atishi, the education minister for Delhi,

has issued directives instructing parents not to send young children to school. As a result, schools would remain closed for students up to class 5 for an additional week. However, for kids in grades higher than sixth, the times have been adjusted. It has been instructed not to hold sessions early in the morning or late at night. In reality, the Delhi government under Kejriwal has extended the winter break for students up to class 5 in all government-aided and unaided recognized private schools until January 10, 2024, in response to the extreme cold wave.

Schools have received clear instructions.

Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi comments on the reopening of schools following winter break: “For the next week, Delhi’s primary schools—that is, schools up to class five—will stay closed. All classes beyond class six will stay closed. Although they have been given explicit instructions not to operate before 8 am or after 5 pm, schools will reopen. A cold wave caused chaos on January 6, the day before. The residents of Delhi were impacted by the cloudy and foggy weather. Where the highest temperature of the day was 15.2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the minimum temperature in the morning was 8.9 degrees.

Punjab’s schools will be closed through January 14.

Children’s schooling is also being impacted by the cold wave in other parts of the nation. Due to the persistent fog and chilly waves that characterize the winter season, CMO Punjab has given directives to maintain school closures. From January 8–14, 2024, all state-run, government-aided, and private schools will be shuttered.
