Delhi Rains: Heavy rain in Delhi-NCR, weather changed but there was heavy traffic jam on the roads

Today’s rainfall in Delhi: The weather in Delhi-NCR has shifted. This morning it started raining in many areas, due to which the temperature has dropped and the weather has become pleasant.

The weather improved on Tuesday morning as a result of heavy rains that fell in various parts of Delhi-NCR. The Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted rain in Delhi and its adjoining areas today and it started raining around 8.30 am. People have also gotten relief from the humidity and heat due to the torrential rains. Due to the rains, there has been long Traffic on the roads in many areas of Delhi.

Heavy rain started in many areas of Delhi including Noida and Ghaziabad in the morning. On Tuesday morning, the Meteorological Department issued a rain alert for Delhi and the adjacent districts. The IMD had said that there is a possibility of rain in Delhi and NCR in the next few hours. Apart from Delhi, there is a possibility of rain in Indirapuram, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Kosli, Mahendragarh, Najibabad, Bijnor, and Amroha.

Earlier on Monday also there was heavy rain in Delhi. At the same time, light rain knocked in Noida and Ghaziabad. Monsoon entered the national capital towards the end of last month, but since then the rainfall activity has been less.

Delhi’s primary meteorological center Safdarjung Observatory has recorded only 2.6 mm of rain in the 10 days between July 1 and July 10, which is very low. It has received 144.3 mm of rain as against the normal 126.7 mm since the start of the monsoon season on June 1. Experts attributed the absence of rain to the progress of the Monsoon Trough towards Central India, which later moved towards Gujarat as a low-pressure area over Odisha.

Heavy rain in these states including Gujarat

At the same time, heavy rain continues to wreak havoc in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. In Gujarat and Maharashtra, more than 140 people have lost their lives so far. Floods have wreaked havoc in many areas. Red alert is on in Gujarat for the next five days, while many rivers are in spate in Maharashtra. Talking about Uttarakhand, a yellow alert has been issued for today in Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, and Udham Singh.
