The electrified variant of the new 5-Series, the BMW i5, has a stated range of 582 km when fully charged. To learn more about it in depth, scroll down.
In the eDrive40 and M60 xDrive trims
the BMW i5 is still an electric-only sedan. While the latter can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and has an electronically regulated top speed of 230 km/h, the former can reach a high speed of 193 km/h.
With the exception of a closed-off grille
which also has illumination inserts like the larger i7, the BMW i5 has a comparable look to the ICE version. The layout appears sleek and contemporary. It has a 0.23 total drag coefficient.
The tails include narrow tail lamps similar to the i7
and a sizable black splitter surrounding the lower part of the bumper, giving them a recognisable appearance. No, there are no exhaust pipes in this area.
The new 5-Series is larger in all three dimensions.
It is 1,515 mm tall, 1,900 mm wide, and 5,060 mm long. The wheelbase is 2,995 millimetres long. Depending on the model you select, an 81.2kWh battery pack located between the wheels has a range of 455–582 kilometres (WLTP).
A 12.3-inch gauge panel
and a 14.9-inch infotainment system is featured in the new BMW i5’s cockpit. The latter is powered by the most recent version of the BMW Drive 8.5 operating system, which runs on Linux and has multimedia and gaming features.
A large ambient lightbar that spans the width
of the automobile is mounted on the dashboard. The sophisticated touchscreen infotainment system is controlled by a number of buttons and a knob located on the centre console. It is, in fact, an exact copy of the BMW i7. The i5’s Boost button is another feature that was directly borrowed from the larger BMW i7.
