The metro line between Ghaziabad and Noida will be built thanks to a financial investment jointly made by the UP Housing Board and the GDA. Each will provide 50–50%. The purpose of this move is to make the trip between Delhi and Ghaziabad simpler. This extension will run the metro line via Indirapuram and Vaishali from the Delhi-Meerut Motorway to Sahibabad in Ghaziabad. As a result, there won’t be any traffic issues and the distance between Ghaziabad and Noida would decrease.
In Sahibabad, there will be a station.
This expansion is being carried out to improve contact between Rapid Rail and Metro. Sahibabad is home to one of its stations. The Rapid Rail will be connected to the second branch of the Blue Line, which runs from Dwarka to Vaishali; however, this connection will occur at Anand Vihar in Delhi. Although this extension has been planned for several years, fund-sharing disputes amongst agencies have caused delays in implementation. This disagreement was recently settled between the UP Housing Board and the GDA, opening the door for this expansion.
What had been the earlier plan?
The central government was supposed to pay 20% of the cost of the metro expansion and the UP government was to pay the remaining half under the previous arrangement. The remaining thirty percent was to be covered by organizations such as the Municipal Corporation, Housing Board, and GDA. The UP government, however, turned down this proposal. According to the updated proposal, 80% of the expenses would now be covered by the UP government through the GDA and Housing Board. The remaining 20% will be funded by the national government. GDA and the Housing Board recently met to discuss the new funding scheme. An updated report on the route from Electronic City to Sahibabad is presently being prepared by Delhi Metro.
RK Singh, the vice chairman of the GDA.
“The project is estimated to cost ₹1,517 crore,” he stated. We are now awaiting Delhi Metro’s updated DPR. When asked about the new finance arrangement, Singh stated that the Housing Board maintains Vasundhara and the GDA oversees Indirapuram township, through which the majority of the corridor will travel. It makes sense that each of these agencies contributes equally as a result. GDA lacks funding. To pay for his portion of the metro extension from Noida to Ghaziabad, he intends to obtain a loan from the NCR Planning Board.
