Italian superbike manufacturer Ducati is getting ready to release the DesertX, a new iteration of its well-liked adventure bike. The bike’s design and engine underwent major modifications when it was recently observed undergoing camouflage testing. A new, lighter 890cc V2 engine, which is not only more powerful but also more efficient, has been installed in favor of the outdated 937cc Testastretta engine.
Brand-new 890cc V2 engine
The new Ducati DesertX 2025’s 890cc V2 engine is more powerful and effective than its predecessor. The Multistrada V2 is powered by the same engine, which generates 115.6 horsepower and 92.1 Nm of torque. Its engine is around 5 horsepower more potent and weighs about 5.8 kg less than the existing DesertX. The bike’s handling, off-road capabilities, and high-speed cruising will all be enhanced by this. For this model, Ducati has also worked on a new frame and chassis design that makes it seem lighter and more balanced.

Though some minor changes give it a more fashionable look, the new DesertX will nevertheless have a similar overall appearance to the previous model. The bike now boasts a sportier, more contemporary appearance thanks to a modification of the tail portion. A redesigned swingarm lowers weight and improves stability. Ducati has improved its adventure appearance by adding a higher windscreen while keeping the twin headlamp arrangement up front. Long and off-road rides can be made more comfortable by adjusting the seat design and riding position.
Timeline for launch and anticipated cost
Currently undergoing testing, the new Ducati DesertX is anticipated to make its world premiere at the EICMA event in late 2025. India might make its debut in early 2026. The new model is anticipated to cost between ₹18 and ₹19 lakh, while the existing DesertX is priced at ₹17.9 lakh (ex-showroom). In the Indian market, the new Ducati DesertX may face competition from high-end adventure bikes such as the Triumph Tiger 900, BMW F 850 GS, and Honda Africa Twin.
