Finance Ministry’s response on UPI

It’s important to note that UPI transactions outnumbered Visa transactions in June. The transaction using UPI was 64.4 crores on June 1st, 2025, and it surpassed 65 crores the next day. However, 64 crore UPI transactions were completed in the fiscal year 2025, which was a year ago.
New UPI payment systemÂ
According to a brochure published to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the NDA government under Prime Minister Modi, India’s digital payment system has been linked to other nations throughout the world. “The entire world has taken notice of India’s digital payment revolution,” it stated. The Unified Payment Interface (UPI) saw 1,830.151 crore UPI transactions in March 2025, totaling around Rs 24.77 lakh crore.
