The cost of piped natural gas (PNG) has also gone up at the same time. An increase of Rs 4 per unit has been announced in PNG with immediate effect. The price has increased twice in the last month. Prices have risen over the previous few weeks, forcing distributors and suppliers to reduce industrial shipments. Since April of this year, prices have increased six times. Following this, CNG is receiving Rs 96.10 in Lucknow and Rs 97.55 in Unnao per kg. Here, the cost of CNG is comparable to that of gasoline.
