A UAN’s permanency is its greatest benefit. When you switch jobs, nothing changes. It connects all of your PF accounts, facilitating easy, paperless fund management and tracking.
Every employee who makes contributions to the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) is assigned a unique 12-digit number known as their UAN. Even if you change jobs, it serves as a master key for all of your PF accounts. You cannot make online transfers, process claims, or check your PF balance without it.
How does UAN help you?
The UAN’s strongest feature is that, despite several company changes, it never changes. It connects all of your previous and current PF accounts, which makes it simpler to manage your money without paper records and keep track of your savings.
With only a few clicks, you may check your passbook, update your KYC, check the status of your claims, and transfer your PF funds online while your UAN is active.
Start by going to the official EPFO Member e-Sewa website to find your UAN online. Locate the ‘Know your UAN’ link beneath the login box on the homepage.
You will be taken to a website where you will need to fill out a captcha code and enter your mobile number after clicking this link. After you select ‘Request OTP,’ an SMS containing an OTP will be delivered to your cell device.
Following the OTP’s verification of your cellphone number, you will be required to submit your name, birthdate, and either your Aadhaar number, PAN, or EPF member ID. Your UAN will be texted to your cell number if your information matches that which the EPFO has on file.
Other ways to get your UAN
There are other ways to locate your UAN if the web portal is unavailable. It may be useful to review your payslip because employers frequently include UANs in monthly paycheck vouchers. As an alternative, the UAN may be provided by your payroll or HR department.
Another choice is the UMANG app, where you may view your UAN in the EPF area of your profile if you are logged in.
What to do after getting your UAN
Activating your UAN on the EPFO Member e-Sewa website is crucial after obtaining it. After activation, you can set a password and sign in to access features like changing your KYC details or seeing your PF passbook.
Connecting your bank accounts, Aadhaar, and PAN to your UAN speeds up the processing of claims and improves your EPFO experience. To ensure you don’t miss any notifications or updates, make sure your mobile number is up to current in the EPFO records.
