The Uttar Pradesh government recently announced the more good news after raising the dearness allowance and dearness relief (DA & DR) for 27 lakh employees. Previously, the central government increased the dearness allowance for central employees. The Tamil Nadu government has now approved raising the DA for state government employees. MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, has given his assent for a 4% rise in the employees’ Dearness Allowance (DA). The 16 lakh employees will gain from this government action.
Pensioners will further gain
According to the government’s press release, this action will cost the exchequer an additional Rs 2,366.82 crore every year. Pensioners and family pensioners will gain from the government’s choice in addition to employees. Employees will begin receiving the enhanced DA on April 1, 2023. Previously, the Dearness allowance for government workers in Tamil Nadu was 38 percent; it is currently 42 percent. The press release further stated that the state administration will raise the DA in the upcoming days in accordance with the actions taken by the Centre.
Tamil Nadu government employees receive an annual benefit of Rs 7536 per month or Rs 15700 per month.
If we add a 4 percent increment to this, the employee will receive a benefit of Rs. 628 every month. This benefit will be worth Rs 7,536 per year. Let us inform you that the DA for central personnel is enhanced twice a year, in January and July, as per the Seventh Pay Commission. The rate of inflation determines how much the Dearness allowance will grow.
DA in UP also increased by 4%.
The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh raised the employees’ daily allowance by 4%. As a result, the percentage of DA and DR in UP has climbed to 42%. From January 1, 2023, employees in UP will benefit from enhanced DA. In addition, central personnel is anticipating a rise in Dearness allowance starting on July 1. In September or October, the government will make DA public. However, it will be put into effect on July 1st. This time around, a rise in DA of 4% is anticipated.
