The government Sahkar Taxi Booking App: The Indian government has declared plans to provide a significant service in the nation. Similar to Uber, Ola, and Rapido, a cooperative taxi service will soon be launched.
Taxi Service Sahkar: On Thursday, March 27, 2025, the central government has announced the opening of a new cooperative taxi service called “Sahkari Taxi.” Its goal is to offer vehicle, cab, and bike services.
This cooperative taxi service’s debut will put Ola, Uber, and Rapido to the test in the online taxi industry. “The benefit from this service will not go to any big industrialist, but to the drivers,” stated Home Minister Amit Shah when he introduced the plan.

The central government’s action is to offer a substitute transportation service where drivers can make money without benefiting large corporations. Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah made the announcement in Parliament, saying, “Cooperative taxi will register two-wheeler taxis, auto-rickshaws, and four-wheeler taxis across the country.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Sahkar se Samriddhi” is more than simply a slogan, according to Amit Shah. Over the past three and a half years, the Ministry of Cooperation has been working nonstop to make it a reality.
The cooperative taxi service would be introduced in the upcoming months, the Union Minister added. This government service will guarantee that all earnings stay with the drivers, providing them with greater financial rewards than private enterprises.
In addition, a cooperative insurance firm would be established to offer insurance services to the nation’s citizens, according to Amit Shah. He added that it will soon surpass all other private sector insurance companies in size.
This service is available in these states
‘Yatri Sathi’, a comparable service that was previously only available in Kolkata, is now operating across West Bengal. It has now spread to places like Durgapur, Asansol, and Siliguri. Yatri Sathi is a well-liked option for travelers since it offers 24-hour customer service, inexpensive fares, information in the local language, and easy booking.
In 2022, Kerala became the first state in the nation to introduce “Kerala Sawari,” a government internet taxi service. The state administration now intends to relaunch it with updated fares and improved software, despite the fact that it was shut down because of little utilization.
