The Hero Splendor Plus and Honda Shine 100 are now both less expensive with GST 2.0. The question of whether bike is more cost-effective in terms of both features and pricing now emerges. Let’s investigate this further.

With effect from September 22, 2025, the Indian government lowered the two-wheeler GST rate from 28% to 18%. This will directly benefit customers. Hero Splendor Plus’s ex-showroom price is currently ₹80,166; following the GST decrease, it would be roughly ₹73,903. The Honda Shine 100, on the other hand, is now priced at ₹64,900, and it may soon drop to ₹59,200. As a result, the Shine 100 will become more reasonably priced, while the Splendor Plus will also gain about ₹6,000. Let’s examine these bikes’ features, performance, and engines in more detail.

Hero Splendor Plus and Honda Shine 100

Performance and engine

A 97.2cc air-cooled engine that generates 7.9 horsepower and 8.05 Nm of torque powers the Hero Splendor Plus. It is coupled with a fuel injection system and a 4-speed gearbox. It can reach a top speed of about 87 kmph. In contrast, the Honda Shine 100’s 98.98cc engine generates 10.6 horsepower and 8.05 Nm of torque. It can reach a maximum speed of 102 kmph using a PGM-Fi fuel system and a 4-speed gearbox. Therefore, the Shine 100 outperforms the Splendor Plus in terms of performance.

Who has more miles?

In India, commuter bikes are primarily chosen for their mileage. With an estimated 70 kilometers per liter of gasoline, the Hero Splendor Plus has the greatest mileage in its class. The Honda Shine 100, on the other hand, gets between 55 and 60 km/l. The Splendor Plus will therefore be a better option for people who frequently commute and wish to save money on gas.

Honda Shine 100

Characteristics and layout

The Hero Splendor Plus is more dependable and fuel-efficient thanks to its xSENS Fi technology, tubeless tires, and i3S idle start-stop system. The Honda Shine 100, on the other hand, has a more modern and sleek appearance with updated graphics, a digital LCD display, and other contemporary elements. The Shine 100 is a superior option for those seeking a little flair and contemporary appeal.

Which is a better investment?

Following the GST reduction, both bikes are now less expensive. The Hero Splendor Plus is still the safest and most economical option if you require better mileage and dependable performance over an extended length of time, while the Honda Shine 100 is the best alternative if you want more power and style on a budget.
