What is the TOEFL test?

More than 13,000 colleges in more than 160 countries recognize TOEFL scores. The TOEFL iBT assesses test-takers’ comprehension and usage of English in a classroom setting.

What is TOFL test?

This test assesses a student’s readiness for academic work and how well they can use their English language proficiency in a classroom setting. Additionally, it examines the same four fundamental abilities: speaking, writing, listening, and reading.

Test Time

The TOEFL examination takes roughly two hours, but the IELTS exam takes two hours and forty-five minutes. Whereas the TOEFL allots 35 minutes for reading, the IELTS allots 60 minutes. IELTS allots 30 minutes for hearing, whilst the TOEFL allots 36 minutes. The TOEFL writing portion lasts 29 minutes, but the IELTS writing portion lasts 60 minutes. The TOEFL allots 16 minutes for the speaking portion, whereas the IELTS allots 11 to 14 minutes.

The speaking portion of the test differs from the reading, writing, and listening portions, which are nearly the same in both tests. By having candidates talk into a microphone and having a computer and a panel of assessors examine their responses, the TOEFL lowers the possibility of bias. However, IELTS requires students to communicate directly with an examiner, which could add subjectivity.
