Thousands of state employees and pensioners have received excellent news from the Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh, following the lead from the Central Government. The government has approved raising the DA for state employees and pensioners by four percent before the Lok Sabha elections. Starting on January 1, 2024, the dearness allowance will be increased. Eight lakh teachers’ salaries and roughly 10 lakh state employees’ salaries would rise as a result of the DA increase. In addition, a 4% increase has been made to the dearness relief payment for 12 lakh seniors.

DA

The benefit will start to apply on January 1.

The DA raise will take effect on January 1st, provided the state government gives its approval. Following this rise, the dearness allowance provided to pensioners and employees has increased to 50 percent. At present employees get a 46 percent dearness allowance of basic salary. This decision of the government will put an additional burden of about Rs 314 crore on the state treasury. This announcement can benefit the government before the Lok Sabha elections.

further state governments may declare DA hikes in the next several days. Employees and retirees of the UP government currently receive DA/DR at a rate of 46%. It is anticipated that state workers will receive their DA at a higher rate in April. In addition, the employees will get their January and February arrears paid.
