Prices for milk are always fluctuating. The newest information on the Milk price is currently emerging from Mumbai. Beginning March 1, the cost of buffalo milk in Mumbai will alter. The Mumbai Milk Producers’ Association (MMPA) stated on Friday that the cost of buffalo milk in the city will be sharply increased starting on March 1 by Rs 5 per litre.
MMPA President CK Singh stated
Providing further details, MMPA President CK Singh stated that the price of buffalo milk, which is sold at more than 3,000 stores throughout the city, will rise from Rs 80 to Rs 85 per litre, with the new rate being in effect till August 31.
The second significant increase in milk prices
This is the second significant increase in milk prices, particularly after September 2022. During that time, the cost of a litre of buffalo milk was hiked from Rs 75 to Rs 80. Because of this, the household budgets of middle-class and lower-class families were ruined. Singh added that the decision was reached unanimously late on Thursday night at the MMPA general body meeting. All of the participants believed that the prices of dairy animals as well as their food products, such as Dana, Tuvar, Chunni, Chana-Chuni, etc., had increased by 15 to 25 per cent as a result of the sharp increase in the costs of hay, grass, and pinda. Rates for ADI milk should also be raised.
In Mumbai, daily consumption of buffalo milk exceeds 50 million gallons.
MMPA supplies more than seven lakhs through its own farms located in and around the nation’s commercial capital via its network of dairies and local retailers. All of Maharashtra’s major cow milk producers’ associations, as well as other top-tier branded producers, raised the cost of cow milk by at least Rs 2 per litre in February of this year.
