According to Indian Railways Rules

In accordance with the Indian Railways Rules, anyone seen riding on a train’s roof may be sentenced to 3 months in jail or a fine of Rs 500, both in accordance with Section 156 of the Railway Act.Indian Railways

Ticket brokering for trains

No one is permitted to broker tickets, per Indian Railways Rules. If someone is caught doing this, they could be sentenced to three years in prison or a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 143 of the Railway Act.Indian Railways

Selling items within a railroad station

No items may be hawked or sold in any country’s railway premises without prior authorization (Indian Railways Rules). Section 144 of the Railway Act provides that if the accused is found guilty of this act, they may be subject to a fine of up to 2,000 rupees and a year in jail.Indian Railways

Travel in a first-class vehicle

Section 138 of the Railway Act provides for penalties if you are discovered travelling in a higher class compartment than indicated on your ticket (Indian Railways Rules). A fine of Rs 250 and the fare up to your maximum distance may be collected for this. If you do not pay this fine, you risk being arrested.
