The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has discussed offering the ability to send money from NRE / NRO (NRE / NRO) accounts in 10 different countries, including the United States, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates. Such NIIs would be able to send money via UPI from an international mobile number if they have NRE or NRO accounts. Expats from the following ten nations will initially have access to this service: Singapore, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Oman, Qatar, USA, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and the United Kingdom.

People of Indian origin (PIOs) and non-resident Indians (NRIs) can open NRE bank accounts here. Anyone living outside of India is eligible to use an NRO account to conduct transactions in rupees. The UPI platform’s operator, NPCI, stated that it will initially support transactions from mobile numbers with 10 different country codes. This facility will soon be made available to additional nations.
