Kia Sonet X Line Spied Undisguised – New 16 Inch Alloys

Kia Sonet X Line1

The Kia Sonet was launched after the success of the Seltos, to recreate the same magic in the sub 4m SUV space. The sonnet has performed well and is doing (relatively) well. But as can be seen from the sales chart, the Nexon is still unbeatable not only in less than 4 meters of space but also in an SUV. This is its charm and as a plus, it also has a 5-star crash rating.

Hyundai launched a new Venue to attract some customers, but that didn’t make any difference to the sales figures. So, South Koreans are taking another shot with the Sonnet X line. It was officially teased, revealing minute details. But now, we’ve got a totally clean look at the one ahead of the launch. Let’s see what is it.

KIA SONET x line
The Kia Sonet was already a wild-looking SUV. It is also one of the best designs in its segment. How can Kia make an already good-looking car even better? Definitely with an X line. We also have X-line versions of Kia products in India, such as the Seltos X line which is a minor design overhaul over the regular trims. This is different from the N-Line version of the Venue that has been seen in spot testing.

Like the Seltos X line, the Sonet X line will get a darker color for the exterior. Looking at the spy shot, it is a dark matte gray shade which can be called matte graphite. Although it looks banging. Coupled with glossy black trims and some subtle red elements on the bumper, it is highly desirable.

Kia Sonet is one of the most feature-loaded options among all other subs 4m SUVs

On the interior, our sources say, it gets an all-black theme including the headliner, sun visors, all plastic trims on the A, B, and C pillars, and more. We can see the contrasting stitching to elevate the sporty atmosphere. However, in terms of interior features, the Sonet X Line is likely to retain the features found in the top-spec GTX Plus trim.

A major highlight (if you can call it that) is that the Sonet X line gets a new set of alloy wheels. They sound better than regular sonnets. What’s wrong then? Our sources say it’s still a size 16″. When Kia launched the Seltos X line, it had 18” alloy wheels, while the regular trim still had 17” alloy wheels. This set the X Line trims of the Seltos apart from the rest of the variants. This will not happen with the Sonnet X line.

Specs and price
The Kia Sonnet X line will be based on the top-spec GTX Plus trim. Hence, we can expect similar features. In terms of engine and transmission, the Sonet X line will be offered with either 1.0-liter turbo petrol with a 7-speed DCT or a 1.5-liter turbo-diesel with a 6-speed automatic torque converter. Unlike the Seltos X Line, the Sonnet X Line will not get a manual or IMT option.

In terms of pricing, Kia is likely to follow the same strategy as it did when launching the Seltos X line. Which one Rs. 10,000 increase over the GTX Plus trim? But the Seltos X line has bigger wheels which the Sonnet X line does not. So, the price hike should be around Rs. 7,000 to 8,000 on the GTX Plus. Likely to be launched soon. The idea of rivaling the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Hyundai Venue, and the upcoming Mahindra XUV300 facelift is not a bad idea.
