Today, a sizable portion of the market is taken up by electric vehicles as producers work to increase their driving range and governments set up charging stations throughout the nation. Mahindra has introduced the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV in India to compete with Tata Nexon EV, a popular choice among customers in the market. Both SUVs claim to have a driving range of 400 km or more in their long-range configurations with larger battery packs. The facts of life, however, tell a different tale.Mahindra XUV400

Range comparison between the Mahindra XUV400 and Tata Nexon EV MAX

Extensive mileage testing on the Mahindra XUV400 and Tata Nexon EV MAX electric SUVs was performed by Autocar India. According to the publishing firm, the tests were carried out using predetermined city and highway routes, topped-off batteries, and tyre pressures that the manufacturer advised. Setting the air conditioning to 22 degrees Celsius and imitating real-world situations by using accessories like audio, lights, and blinkers when necessary.Mahindra XUV400

The larger 39.4kWh battery from the Mahindra XUV400 was put to the test.

On a single charge, the XUV400’s combined city and highway range was 253 kilometers. The car’s efficiency in the city was 7.11 km/kWh while it was being driven in Eco mode. When the EV entered Fast mode and struck the motorway, the XUV400 produced a 5.89 km/kWh efficiency.Mahindra XUV400

The Nexon EV MAX, on the other hand

was able to achieve a combined range of 266km on a single charge because of its 40.5kWh battery pack. The Nexon EV produced 6.6 km/kWh in the city, but just 6.4 km/kWh on the highway.Mahindra XUV400

Given that the EV travels

farther per kWh, the Mahindra XUV400 would be a better purchase for people who want to drive in the city. The Tata Nexon EV MAX might be a better choice for highway users, though.

Starting at Rs 16.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tata Nexon EV MAX may cost up to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV400 has priced at Rs. 18.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).
