Married women follow the Karwa Chauth fast in hopes of extending their husbands’ lives. While single girls observe the Karva Chauth fast in an effort to find their ideal life partner. On the Chaturthi date of Krishna Paksha in the Kartik month, the Karva Chauth fast is celebrated. Karva Chauth will be observed this year on November 1st, 2023. Before dawn, the mother-in-law’s Sargi is consumed to begin the fast. Then, after going without water for the entire day, the fast is broken at night after worshipping the Moon God and presenting Arghya. There are some Karva Chauth fasting regulations that must be adhered to. In this case, newlywed women who are fasting for the first time during Karva Chauth should be aware of these guidelines.
First-time Karwa Chauth preparation tips
- The Karwa Chauth fast begins even before dawn. A woman who is fasting should get up early in the morning and ask her elders for their blessings. After eating sargi, the fast should then begin. The daughter-in-law of the married couple, who is celebrating Karva Chauth for the first time, receives gifts from her mother-in-law in the shape of Sargi, including sweets, clothing, and cosmetics. Following the consumption of these treats, the daughter-in-law follows a waterless fast for the entire day.
- Sitting in the Karwa Chauth fast worship with all 16 adornments is seen as lucky. Therefore, before Karva Chauth, be careful to henna your hands.
- The wedding dress should be worn during the Karva Chauth fast, to start. You can wear a red saree or red lehenga if wearing a bridal gown is not possible for some reason. On Karva Chauth, try to dress as a bride first.
- You can also wear green, maroon, or pink if you are unable to wear red. On this day, however, no fasting woman should intentionally wear anything that is black, blue, or grey. This is quite unlucky.
