Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, is concentrating on artificial intelligence and is luring top people to his superintelligence lab with generous job offers. Because they seek financial autonomy and to shape the future of AI on their own terms, the Thinking Machines Lab team, led by Meera Murati, turned down Meta’s offer of up to $1 billion.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, has been heavily concentrating on artificial intelligence (AI) for a while. In order to attract top personnel to his new Superintelligence Lab, he is making generous job offers. However, this endeavor was severely hampered when Meta’s large offers were turned down by the whole Thinking Machines Lab crew. For those who are unaware, Meera Murati, the former chief technology officer of OpenAI, is currently managing the American artificial intelligence firm Thinking Machines Lab.
Nobody even took up the offer.
Mira Murati, the former chief technology officer of OpenAI, is now the creator of Thinking Machines Lab, according to a Wired report. According to her, her team has already received employment offers totaling between $200 million and $1 billion, but none of them have accepted Meta’s offer.
The director of communications for Meta voiced disapproval.
According to Meera, her team values autonomy and determining the direction of AI on their own terms more than financial gain. Because of this, no researcher consented to work for a large corporation like Meta. Andy Stone, the head of communication for Meta, disagreed with this assertion, claiming that we had only extended the offer to a select group of individuals and that the specifics of the large offer had not been adequately disclosed.
The business raised $1 billion in capital.
Thinking Machines Lab has raised $1 billion in cash without releasing a product after turning down large offers. At the same time, some industry experts today claim that Meera Murati’s team is working together because of her leadership and vision.
