The requirements for vehicle owners to obtain a Pollution Control (PUC) Certificate have become more stringent in recent weeks, according to the West Bengal Transport Ministry. The State Ministry has now deployed PUCC version 2.0 to enforce stricter emission requirements without compromising on the PUCC certificate. In order to obtain the new certificates, the Ministry first installed geofencing at each of the state’s emission testing facilities. Prior to the installation of geofencing, PUC certificates were being issued to vehicle owners without their presence at the testing facilities, but now PUC certificates can be obtained online. is not feasible.PUC

PUC Certificate – West Bengal Transport Minister Snehasis Chakraborty recently declared

according to Times of India news, in order to obtain a PUC certificate, owners of the vehicles must resolve any outstanding challans, among other issues. There ought to be nothing pending or unfinished. Under the new mandate, the emission testing center will not provide a PUC certificate for any car in the database if there is an outstanding tax or challan. The ministry claims that the purpose of this regulation is to maintain transparency in the PUC issuance procedure and to control pollution. The new regulation will take effect on November 1, 2023.PUC

Here’s how geofencing operates

In contrast to previous times when an emission center just needed to see a picture of the vehicle’s license plate, Transport Secretary Soumitra Mohan shared this notification. In contrast, a landscape photo of the car will now be needed for PUCC variation 2.0, and this photo can only be confirmed using mobile geolocation. The PUC certificate will only be issued after that.
