road accidents

This information is for you if you frequently drive or ride a bike to go about. The government is constantly working to reduce road accidents. For this reason, a goal was established to reduce traffic accidents by 50% by the year 2024. Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, recently made some remarks that might make you angry. In fact, Gadkari stated that we would not be able to meet the goal of a 50% decrease in traffic accidents by 2024.

Some folks don’t make an effort to reduce road accidents

According to the Union Minister, failures by the government and those who compromise on road safety standards will prevent the goal of reducing road accidents by 50% by the year 2024 from being met. Gadkari stated at a program “We had said that we would reduce the number of road accidents by 50% before the year 2024.” However, we were unable to accomplish so because of our own inadequacies and the lack of effort put forward by some others.

We are not making any progress toward accomplishing the goal.

He stated, “The people preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) are not doing their job properly,” underscoring the requirement for improvement in road building engineering. They believe that costs should be reduced. In order to lower the cost of construction, he claimed that road safety standards were compromised while the DPR was being created. Make no provision in any route for the construction of flyovers or underbridges. Despite the cost being reduced, the goal is not being reached.

2 lakh people pass away in road accidents each year

He claimed, “We have identified the black spots,” adding that 2 lakh people pass away in road accidents each year. Effective roadside signs also decrease the danger of accidents. Aside from this, maintaining lane discipline while driving can also contribute to winning the war for national road safety. He claimed that approximately two lakh people die in nearly five lakh vehicle accidents annually in India. He asserted that car accidents cause more fatalities than battles, riots, or terrorist acts.
