The money that was placed under NPS to launch the previous pension system has been requested for a refund by the chief ministers of both states. The old pension system (OPS) for public employees will be reinstated in both of the states governed by Congress. They assert that the center is unable to retain the employees’ funds. In Himachal Pradesh, where Congress has also pledged to restore the system, it has grown in importance as an election topic.
