Nolan Bushnell, a co-founder of Atari, gave Alan Alcorn the task of developing it as a training exercise.
The caliber of Alcorn’s work, however, caught both Bushnell and Ted Dabney, the co-founder of Atari, by surprise.
He made the decision to create this video game. Then, it was launched.
Upon its release, Pong made a splash.
The first video game to be successful commercially was Pong.
When this video game was first released, Alan Alcorn, an engineer for Atari, made a big deal out of it.
Several firms started making games that closely resembled it shortly after it was released.
Rivals of Atari produced different varieties of video games that significantly deviated from the Pong game’s original structure.
Pong’s many sequels from Atari added additional elements while maintaining the gameplay of the first game.
Atari offered a Pong home version during the 1975 holiday season through Sears retail establishments only.
This variation also enjoyed great success.
The game was later ported to other home and mobile platforms.
Pong had numerous sequels launched around that time when not many people had cell phones, and as a result, it became quite popular.
As a result of its success, Atari released multiple versions of it.
Also included in the 1977 Video Olympics was Pong.
Atari has released a number of Pong remakes and sequels.
Pong was released in a variety of variations, including Pong Doubles, Super Pong, Ultra Pong, Pin Pong, etc.
