PM Internship Scheme started today, 5000 rupees per month to be given to youth

The PM Internship Scheme was launched today by the central government to prepare the youth for the workforce. The young person chosen for an internship under this program will receive Rs 5,000 in monthly cash assistance. In addition, they would receive a one-time payment of Rs 6,000 for enlisting in the internship.

According to official estimates,

1.25 lakh internships are expected to be offered during the current fiscal year. An estimated Rs 800 crore would be spent on this. One crore young people trained in five years. In her budget statement for the fiscal year 2024–2025, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the government will introduce a comprehensive internship program. Under this, one crore youth will be allowed to train in 500 top companies in five years. They will get a chance to learn the tricks of working in a real business environment, and various business sectors for 12 months and will also get employment opportunities.

According to available information,

this program will be carried out via the www.pminternship.mca.gov.in web page. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is the one that designed the portal. Under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, insurance coverage will be provided to the youth who are chosen for an internship. The government will cover the premium for this. In addition, firms have the option of offering the chosen candidate supplementary accident insurance. The pilot project is anticipated to be finished in the first week of December, according to sources. It will then be fully deployed after that. This program will also be subject to the central government’s reservation policy.

He said that through the portal,

partner companies can provide internship opportunities. Top companies have been identified for the pilot project based on their average CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) expenditure in the last three years. Candidates who want training can register on the portal from the second week of October. The internship will be for one year.

Each month, you will receive 5,000 rupees.

With the ministry’s consent, any additional bank, financial institution, or enterprise may take part in this program. Financial support for Rs 5,000 per month would be given to trainees. The selected candidate’s bank account will get a direct transfer of Rs 4,500 from the government out of the entire amount, and the enterprise will contribute Rs 500 from its CSR fund. As per the concept, the corporation will use its CSR money to cover the costs associated with training the trainees.

According to sources,

Young people between the ages of 21 and 24 who do not have a full-time job or are enrolled in school can apply through the portal. Applicants who are enrolled in distance learning or online courses may apply. Regarding the requirements for eligibility, sources stated that candidates who have passed high school, or higher secondary school, have an ITI certificate, or diploma from the polytechnic institute, or are graduates with degrees like BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma will be eligible for this.
