A continuous effort is underway to improve the services for passengers through The Indian Railways. This involves the operation of brand-new trains, the beautification of railway stations, and electrification of railway lines, and so on. Recently PM Modi expressed his satisfaction with the complete electrification of the wide gauge railway system within Uttar Pradesh.
Announcement of 100 percent electrification
Railway has electrified all the broad gauge routes in the state along with the Subhagpur-Pachpedwa broad gauge route in UP. This is an important accomplishment for Railways under the leadership of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. The Subhagpur-Pachpedwa wide gauge route falls under the North Eastern Railway. Ministry of Railways announced 100 percent electrification of the broad gauge railways in UP via tweets. In response, PM Modi wrote: ‘Very good.’
The construction of the green railway is progressing at a fast pace
In addition, railways have completed the electrification of broad gauge lines within these routes: the East Coast Railway, North Central Railway, North Eastern Railway, Eastern Railway, South Eastern Railway, and West Central Railway. Railways announced in a press release that “Indian Railways is on the fast track to 100% electrification, and is now the world’s biggest green railway system with 85 percent work completed.

It is a semi-high-speed train Vande Bharat that is being operated at a rapid pace by the railway department. It is reported that the Ministry of Railways plans to connect 150 cities via Vande Bharat Express in August 2023.
