At Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will play their first qualifying encounter on Thursday. In the league stage, Punjab Kings were at the top of the points chart. On Tuesday, RCB defeated Lucknow by six wickets to take second place.

Winners directly enters the final

Royal Challenger Bangalore

For the first time since 2014, Punjab Kings made it into the first qualifier. At the same time, RCB is regarded as a serious contender for the championship after their outstanding performance this season. There is every possibility that the two sides will play an interesting game in such a scenario.

The winner of the Punjab Kings vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore first qualifier advances straight to the championship game. After that, the victorious squad will get ready for the June 3 final. The losing team will have another opportunity to go to the final at the same time. It is scheduled to participate in the second qualifying.

Do or die match

Gujarat Titans

The Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians will then play an elimination game on May 30. For both teams, it will be a game of life or death. This is because the losing team’s adventure will come to an end, and the winning team will advance to the second qualifier. The losing team will therefore be eliminated from the competition.

Although the Gujarat Titans did well in the current IPL, they have been playing poorly lately. They will have a difficult time defeating the five-time champion Mumbai Indians. Thus, this game will be exciting as well.

Who will fight in Qualifier 2

In the second qualifier, the team that loses the first qualifier will play the winner of the eliminator. The victor will advance to the championship game. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the playoffs’ first and second qualifiers, while Mullanpur will host the elimination game.

If PBKS will play Qualifier-1 match then Mumbai will have to play Eliminator

Playoff schedule

  • May 29 – 1st Qualifier – Punjab vs RCB
  • May 30 – Eliminator Match – Gujarat vs Mumbai Indians
  • 1 June – Second Qualifier
