In the Indian auto industry, the Maruti Alto is a well-liked model. The Renault Kwid is one of the few alternatives in Alto’s pricing range. But the Renault Kwid will soon compete against the Maruti Alto. Reuters reports that the business will shortly introduce the Renault Kwid EV in its current form. However, the business must produce it locally in order to offer it for sale in India at a reasonable price. Nissan is the primary owner of most of the business’s Indian facilities.
By the end of this year or in 2024
it is anticipated that the business will be able to introduce the Kwid EV in India. It will be able to compete with Tata Punch EV once it launches in India.
Renault already manufactures and sells the City K-ZE
an electric vehicle variant of the Kwid, in China. In contrast, it is sold as Dacia Spring outside of France. In France, it is the second-best-selling EV in 2022. On a full charge, a 230 km range is promised. There, the starting price is 20,800 Euros without subsidies (about Rs. 18 lakh).
In India, Renault now offers the Triber seven-seater
Kiger SUV, and Kwid hatchback. In 2022, its sales are predicted to decrease by 9% to about 87,000 units, while its market share will only increase by 2%. Renault also intends to modernize its flagship dealerships in important cities as part of the India revamp. The business claimed to have 500 sales locations throughout India.
