Road speed limit in India: The speed limit may soon be increased on all expressways and national highways across the country. Let us tell you that after preparing its proposal, it has reached the government, it can be implemented only after discussion.

The meeting will be held in Bangalore
Nitin Gadkari, the minister of roads and transport for the union, is prepared to talk about this idea at the Bengaluru meeting of the Transport Development Council (TDC).

It is to be known that this meeting is being held at a time when safety issues including the condition of the roads are being raised after the death of a Road accident involving Cyrus Mistry, the former chairman of Tata Motors.

Currently, the maximum speed limit for cars set by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is 100 kmph on national highways and 120 kmph on expressways. The Mumbai-Pune Expressway still has a 100 kmph speed limit. Light cars can travel on this expressway at a speed of 120 kmph.

Such may be the speed limit
Recently, Minister Gadkari said that another proposal to bring a law to use the sound of Indian musical instruments as vehicle horns will also be discussed in the meeting. Gadkari had already proposed raising the expressway’s posted speed limit from 120 kmph to 140 kmph in early October of last year. According to him, the posted speed limit for drivers on the expressway ought to be raised to 140 km/h.

Here is the speed limit in the city
Minister Gadkari had earlier said that the speed limit on four-lane roads on national highways should be at least 100 kmph, while for 2-lane roads and city roads it should be 80 kmph or more. Must be 75 kmph. He had said, “Given the Supreme Court and High Court decisions about the car’s speed, we have no legal standing to pursue any action.
