Finance Minister Nirmala S. Sitharaman announced her Union Budget on Wednesday, wearing the color maroon in silk Kasuti saree.

A traditional “Kasuti” style was carried out with the traditional saree. Sitharaman is a Rajya Sabha representative from Karnataka.
Kasuti is a form of embroidery from folklore
featuring a Geographical Indication (GI) tag It is believed to be exclusive only to the Dharwad region.
Kasuti made by hand usually comprises an elephant, chariot temple gopura, deer, peacock, and lotus embroidery.
This sari, worn by Finance Minister featured a chariot, lotus, and peacock work.
The thick silk (800 grams) design was done by the company ‘Arathi Crafts which is owned by Aarti Hiremath in Dharwad.
Saree designers told that Finance Minister ordered silk Kasuti saree back in December.
Hiremath told us that we were pleased to receive the saree for Nirmala Sitharaman ma’am. He didn’t know about the event.
He informed us that we’d given her two Kasuti Sarees.
