The new Skoda Slavia takes on the likes of Honda. City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Let us find out how this premium mid-size sedan stacks up against its arch-rivals.

The first is a 1.0-liter TSI motor that develops 113 hp and 178 Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and 6-speed torque-converter AT. It also gets a 1.5-liter TSI engine that produces 148 hp of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque, which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and 7-speed DSG.

Introduced in the premium mid-size sedan segment, Skoda has offered this model in three variants – Active, Ambition and Style. We are getting a very good response from the people right from the initial performance of this car.” The company is also planning to launch the Slavia with a 1.5-liter TSI engine. One look at the Skoda Slavia and it’s hard not to like it. The Slavia celebrates the classic three-box sedan silhouette with an elegant design. Upfront, the hexagonal grille is similar to the one you’ll see in the Kushak SUV, but that said, it is neatly integrated, flanked by LED headlamps on the top-spec trims. Go to the sides and you notice the 16-inch alloy wheels along with the muscular shoulder lines of the Slavia. While the 17-inch wheel arches would have been filled in better, we suspect this is done to improve the ride quality of the Slavia.

The Slavia also has a ground clearance of 179 mm, which means you will be able to tackle the speed breaker without any issues. The swooping roof is similar to that of a coupe, and the Slavia gets a traditional boot lid with Koda lettering, unlike the notchback we expected. Overall, the Slavia looks like a smaller version of the Octavia, which is not a bad thing considering its pretty design.

Skoda Slavia Interior
On the inside, the Slavia gets a cabin that is similar to the Kushak but with a few key differences. The air-con vents on the sides are circular in shape on the Slavia, and it also gets bronze-colored trim on the dashboard. The Slavia also gets ambient lighting, along with a 10-inch infotainment screen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the Kushk, as well as an 8-inch digital cluster on the top-spec variant. The Slavia gets a dual-tone interior as well as ventilated front seats. Also on offer is a regular-sized sunroof.
