Snapchat users are now aware of this. The company will now charge users for storage space exceeding 5GB. New plans have been announced. However, users still have the option to download content.
Snapchat Memories Now Paid:
If you use Snapchat, then this is important news for you. The company is making a big change to its Memories feature. Users will now have to pay for the Memories feature, which has been available for free since the app’s launch in 2016. The company has announced a new plan for this. Users who have more than 5GB of content in Memories will have to take a paid plan. Without a subscription, they will not be able to access old content nor save new content.
The company launched these plans:
In its official statement, the company said that when the Memories feature was launched, we didn’t anticipate it becoming so big. New Memories Storage Plans are being launched to allow for long-term storage of memories. The company has priced the 100GB plan at US$1.99 (approximately Rs. 177) per month. The 250GB plan will be part of the Snapchat+ subscription priced at $3.99 (approximately Rs. 355). A Platinum plan with up to 5TB of storage has also been introduced, the price of which may vary by region. While the price of these plans in India is not yet known, the company has clarified that plans will be rolled out gradually for all markets.
Will old photos and videos be deleted if I don’t take the plan?
Users with more than 5GB of Memories storage will receive temporary storage for one year and the option to download their saved content. After one year, they will need to purchase a storage plan. If you want to download your Memories, the process is simple. Go to Memories and long-press on the snap you want. You’ll then see the Export option. Tapping on this option will allow you to store it on your device.
