Take these steps to prevent UPI scams & keep your money secure

UPI scams

In India, digital payments have never been easier thanks to UPI, or the Unified Payments Interface. You can use your phone to make payments with its assistance. Roadside stores and large malls both accept UPI payments. However, some people are misusing it as an advantage. Scammers have begun taking advantage of UPI users to steal money. A lot of individuals are falling for UPI scams. Allow us to explain how to spot and steer clear of it.

Fraudsters attempt to obtain your personal information,

including bank account data, UPI PIN, OTP, and other details, using UPI scams. After obtaining this data, thieves take money out of your account. Allow us to explain how to spot UPI scams. People receive calls informing them that they have won a lottery and will be receiving thousands of rupees. The user is then prompted to divulge his UPI PIN to facilitate the transfer of funds. However, as soon as he divulges the PIN, he is conned.

A lot of money has been credited to people’s accounts,

according to the texts they receive. Then someone phones and requests that the money be given back, saying that he accidentally sent it. You should verify if the funds have truly been credited in such a case. This might be a fraud. Phishers are fabricating UPI applications. You can scan the QR code with these apps to make it appear as though the money has been made. However, this is a scam. Always check whether the money has been credited to your account or not.

Always double-check how much money

you are transferring and if it is going to the correct person while using UPI. Never provide private information to third parties, such as your PIN, OTP, or bank account details.
