Tata Motors sold 60,907 cars in September 2025, surpassing both Mahindra and Hyundai. In addition to EV and CNG vehicles setting new milestones, the Nexon sold 22,500 units.

In the Indian auto industry, September 2025 was a big month for Tata Motors. The business became the nation’s second-largest automaker, surpassing industry titans like Hyundai and Mahindra. The company sold 60,907 vehicles in September, according to figures from Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited. When compared to the prior year, this indicates a noteworthy 47% growth.

Tata Nexon emerges as the main act.

The Nexon, a sub-4 meter SUV from Tata, has broken the previous record. September had the biggest monthly sales of any Tata passenger car ever, with over 22,500 Nexon units sold in September alone. Customers love the Nexon because of its strong construction, 5-star safety certification, strong engine selections, and EV-CNG variant.

Tata Nexon

surpasses Hyundai and Mahindra by a significant amount.

Retail data from the Vahan portal indicates that in September 2025, Tata Motors sold 40,594 vehicles, followed by Mahindra & Mahindra with 37,015 and Hyundai Motor India with 35,443. These numbers unequivocally show that Tata Motors has significantly outsold both of its competitors.

Increasing market share in the EV and CNG sectors

Tata Motors is doing well in the green fuel market, which includes electric and CNG cars, in addition to gasoline and diesel vehicles. The company sold 9,191 EVs in September 2025, a 96% increase from the previous year. Sales of CNG vehicles totaled 17,800, representing a 105% increase from the previous year. The company has sold 144,397 passenger cars so far this fiscal year, with EV and CNG vehicles making up 44% of these sales.

Hyundai and Mahindra

High demand for Punch, Safari, and Harrier

The other SUVs from Tata Motors did well in the marketplace as well. The Adventure X version propelled Harrier and Safari sales to all-time highs. The Punch is still a consumer favorite and has solidified its position in the small SUV market. Following the GST cut, the company’s bookings almost doubled, setting a new record for overall sales.

It’s important to remember that Tata Motors had a historic September 2025. Indian consumers’ continued faith in the Tata brand is demonstrated by the Nexon’s record sales, the remarkable rise in EV and CNG automobile sales, and the fact that the company surpassed Mahindra and Hyundai to take second place.
