Temple Exploration

According to a report published in the ‘Saudi Gazette’, this important area of Al-Fa has remained a hot spot for the people of the Archaeological Department for the last 40 years. Among the many discoveries at the survey site, the most important finding is the ruins of parts of an altar from the demolished complex of this temple. This shows that some people lived here at that time, in whose life rituals like worship and yajna must have been of great importance. The name of this temple is told as the rock-cut temple which is situated on the side of Tuwaiq mountain, which is now known as Al-Fau. According to the results so far, the people of al-Fa were very religious. The excavations found an inscription confirming the existence of Al-Fa, the god of Kahl.

An ancient large city has been discovered at this site, on which some towers have been built. In the course of this research, complex irrigation systems have been uncovered in the region including canals, water bodies, and hundreds of pits in the world’s driest land and harsh desert environments. According to the report of earlier research here, there has been a culture of the temple and idol worship in this area since thousands of years ago.
