Weeks after launching an Experience Center in Mumbai to join the Indian market, Tesla opened its first charging station in the nation on Monday. Notably, on July 15, the international EV behemoth made its eagerly anticipated debut in India with the introduction of its Model Y, which starts at Rs 59.89 lakh.
On August 11, Tesla is scheduled to launch its second showroom in India, marking a major milestone in the company’s growth. According to sources, the new store would be situated in Delhi’s Aerocity at Worldmark 3 to provide consumers in the national capital area with a first-rate experience of the electric car brand. The Delhi showroom will function as a display and customer experience center, much like its first Indian showroom in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, which debuted on July 15.
India’s first Tesla charging station
Weeks after debuting an Experience Center in Mumbai to penetrate the Indian market, Tesla opened its first charging station in the nation earlier today. According to the company, the charging station located at One BKC in the Bandra-Kurla Complex has four destination charging stalls (AC charging) and four V4 supercharging stalls (DC charging). According to the company, by the September quarter, it intends to open three additional of these facilities, one each in Lower Parel, Thane, and Navi Mumbai.
Tesla’s Model Y introduction in India
On July 15, Tesla opened its first experience center in Mumbai and made its eagerly anticipated debut in India with the Model Y, which starts at Rs 59.89 lakh. Tesla will import the Model Y as a completely built unit (CBU) from its Shanghai manufacturing facility in China. The business, which was previously prevented from entering India because to hefty import duties, is managed by American tech billionaire Elon Musk.
Two models of the Model Y are available.
Once the best-selling vehicle in the world, the mid-sized electric SUV Model Y will be available in India in two different versions: the rear-wheel drive model, which will start at Rs 59.89 lakh, and the long-range rear-wheel drive model, which will start at Rs 67.89 lakh. For the two varieties, the deliveries are scheduled to begin in the third and fourth quarters of 2025, respectively. According to the business, destination chargers provide 11kW at Rs 14/kW and the Tesla Supercharging Stalls give a peak charging speed of 250 kW starting at Rs 24/kW.
