If you use a ration card to benefit from the government’s “Free Ration Yojana,” you will be pleased to hear this information. The central government just decided to continue the free ration program for another year. On the other side, the country has adopted the government’s significant “One Nation One Ration Card” program. After that, all ration stores are required to have an online electronic point of sale (POS) machines. This government decision has a noticeable impact.
Amendment in Food Security Law
According to the Central Government’s National Food Security Law, the recipients must get the appropriate ration. The Food Security Act has been modified by the Central Government to integrate Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) systems with electronic scales at ration stores in order to achieve this.
Ability to purchase rations from any store
The likelihood of ration weighing problems has decreased in any way since the adoption of this rule. Hybrid model point-of-sale devices have been provided to the ration dealers in order to guarantee that the beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System (PDS) never receive less ration under any circumstances. These devices can operate in both online and offline modes. The National Food Security Act beneficiary can use his digital ration card to pick up his ration from any fair-price shop in the nation.
What’s different now?
According to the government, rule 7 of rule (2) has been changed under the Food Security (Assistance to State Government Rules) 2015 in order to urge the states to correctly operate the EPOS equipment and to stimulate savings from the additional profit of Rs 17 per quintal.
If any State or Union Territory saves money on the purchase, operation, and maintenance of Point of Sale devices under this, it can be shared with the purchase, operation, and maintenance of electronic weighing scales in order to facilitate integration.
