According to the leaked image, the Toyota Hyryder, codenamed D22, will have a very aggressive design. The overall theme is inspired by global Toyota SUVs such as the RAV4 and Corolla Cross, but it has been tweaked to suit Indian tastes. In a two-part grille design, the chrome-belted Toyota logo is set in a gloss black panel that flows into the wide DRLs. Below this is a large air dam, as well as some blacked-out LED headlamp clusters. The bumper is finished in a brushed grey colour and has the same clawed treatment as the latest Glanza.

Interiors of the Toyota D22 Hyryder SUV

The interiors of the new Toyota SUV have yet to be seen, but a layered dash layout with plenty of tech is expected. The new 9.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple Carplay, a HUD, digital instrument cluster, cruise control, sunroof, and other features should all be available. Different coloured trims and upholstery materials distinguish the Toyota and Maruti Suzuki versions.

Engine specifications for the Toyota D22 Hyryder SUV

The hybrid powertrain that this Toyota-Maruti Suzuki SUV will be equipped with is expected to be its USP. This drivetrain debuted in the Euro-spec Suzuki Vitara and is based on the 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine that is already available in the United States. The petrol engine is combined with a 140V lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor in this hybrid system. All auxiliary functions, such as air conditioning, are handled by a lithium-ion battery and a lead-acid battery. The 1.5-litre motor’s power has increased by 10PS to 115PS, while torque has increased by 10 Nm to 138 Nm in this iteration. The electric motor adds 33 horsepower and 60 pound-feet of torque, and it’s paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Base models may retain only the petrol engine and a manual transmission.
