With a market share of almost 80%, Tata Motors presently rules the Indian market for electric vehicles. Maruti Suzuki, the largest automaker in India, has not yet made a move into the electric vehicle market. In 2024, things will alter, though. With a mid-size SUV, Maruti Suzuki is about to enter the electric vehicle market in 2024. On the other hand, Tata Motors will also introduce an electric SUV coupe early in the next year that is based on the Curve concept. Let’s discuss both.
Mitsubishi Suzuki EVX SUV
At the Auto Expo 2023, Maruti Suzuki displayed the EVX electric SUV concept. The Maruti EVX electric SUV would reportedly be introduced in production form around Diwali in the third quarter of 2024. The Mahindra XUV400 and the forthcoming Creta EV will be its rivals. A 60kWh LFP blade cell battery is anticipated.
The Born-EV platform will be used for the design and construction of the new EVX electric SUV. Maruti Suzuki has stated that this electric vehicle will have a 550 km range on a single full charge. The new model may have dimensions of 4000 mm in length, 1800 mm in width, 1600 mm in height, and 2700 mm in wheelbase.
EVT TATA CURVV
In April 2022, Tata Motors unveiled the Curvv EV prototype. At the 2023 Auto Expo, the business unveiled Curvv’s ICE variant. Additionally, it has been reported that the production model of the SUV coupe, the Curve, will debut in 2024. The new SUV will have an ICE and an electric drivetrain.
The Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona EV, and forthcoming EVs like the Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX will be competitors for the electric SUV coupe. The GEN 2 platform, which is essentially an updated version of Tata’s ALFA platform, will serve as the foundation for the Tata Curvv SUV coupe. Given the estimated 500 km range, a larger battery pack is anticipated.
